About Oslo Spirit

Oslo Spirit is an independent travel guide for people planning a trip to Oslo and its surroundings. Our positioning is simple: verified itineraries, honest advice, no fluff. That means real prices in Norwegian krone, genuine opinions on whether attractions are worth the cost, and none of the filler you'll find on generic travel sites.

Why Oslo Spirit exists

Oslo is one of Europe's most expensive and most rewarding cities — a compact capital where a floating sauna on the Oslofjord sits minutes from world-class museums, and where the train to Bergen ranks among the most scenic journeys on earth. It deserves a guide that matches that depth. We cover the city's neighbourhoods, the Oslofjord islands and coastal towns, day trips east to Lillehammer and Fredrikstad, and the classic Fjord Norway route via Flåm and Bergen.

We also say the quiet parts out loud: no, you cannot see the northern lights from Oslo (59.9°N is too far south); yes, the Viking Ship Museum is closed until around 2027; yes, some restaurants near the waterfront are tourist traps and we name them. Honest planning saves you money and disappointment.

Our approach

Every guide, itinerary and recommendation on this site is based on first-hand knowledge of Oslo and thorough ongoing research. We include real prices (NOK with USD/EUR equivalents), realistic travel times via Ruter and Vy, and seasonal notes — because Oslo in December and Oslo in July are very different trips.

How we earn revenue

Oslo Spirit is a free resource. Our only active affiliate programme is GetYourGuide (partner ID LDXYA0P). When you book a tour or activity through one of our links, we receive a commission at no extra cost to you. We are not paid to recommend anything: if we think a tour is overpriced or not worth it, we say so. Read our full affiliate disclosure for details.
